It seems one of the most difficult things to teach in kindergarten is writing. Where do you start? Where do you go? What should we expect? How much should a kindergartener write? Most teachers in kindergarten have asked themselves these questions over and over. I spent most of my Masters researching and developing a writing plan for kindergarten. It is in no way a 'Scientifically Based Researched Program' (gotta love dropping those key words!) but it is a program I have used for the past few years with much success. I have had other teachers also use this writing program and seen similar success in their classrooms as well.
I will be spending the first few weeks on my blog outlining the 'Ace Writing Program' that I have developed. Hopefully you will find parts of the program useful, but always keep in mind that this (as any program) is what you make of it. The beginning of this program is after you have worked with your students on line and shape formation. There are great programs out there to get your students 'ready to write'. We begin the Ace Program right after Winter Break. That does NOT mean your students are not writing in other formats. It just means this process of writing and revising begins after Winter Break. Remember, writing is a life-long skills in which children should have ownership and passion for creating! So here we go....

From the beginning...
For years I have read and followed all sorts of kindergarten blogs. I have truly enjoyed finding ideas for the classroom to make each day just a little easier! I now want to do share my ideas and classroom with others. In education, I have a passion for reading and writing. While I am nervous to begin such a venture, I am also excited to share my passion with others. Please feel free to comment, suggest and share about your own experiences. Thanks for beginning this adventure with me!!
